During this equality and career guidance workshop we will focus on an intriguing question: What are possible career opportunities after completing the PhD? Students spent many years on their big study project and can go as deep as they like into specific research topics. After the dissertation, it becomes relevant to ask how all this acquired knowledge and related skills can be put into practice best. We would like to address this decisive moment by looking at several possible career paths there are for young doctorates.
For this reason, we invited three former PhD students who finished their studies either in Bochum or in Osnabrück. They will give talks about their exciting career paths, the lessons they learned and important insights they want to share with early career students. Each presentation will be followed by a Q&A session where listeners can ask informal questions and discuss the pros and cons of different career decisions. In the end, we will have a general discussion session in smaller groups spread over several tables.
